One must differentiate between poetry that captures the scene like a camera, delving perhaps even deeper than its lens, stirring feelings of sorrow that soon fade away, and poetry that opens your eyes to take a stance on what is happening, shaking your humanity because, in the moment of the event, human emotions are intense and moving the mind is easier. This, in my opinion, is the primary task of poetry and the purpose of eloquence in general.
How beautiful is literature when it carries a noble message, enlightening minds and touching hearts, combining enjoyment and benefit, so that literature becomes not just words on paper, but a light that illuminates the paths of life, guiding us to virtuous morals and the beauty of thought.
The anthology of glacier poetry aims to highlight the critical role glaciers play in maintaining the earth’s temperature balance. Acting as natural air conditioners, glaciers reflect sunlight and keep the planet cooler, while also providing essential freshwater resources.
However, human activities threaten these ice masses. Deforestation reduces trees that absorb CO2, increasing global warming. The release of CFCs and other chemicals has damaged the ozone layer, allowing more UV rays to warm the earth and accelerate glacier melting.
The consequences of glacier melting include rising sea levels, disrupted weather patterns, and reduced freshwater availability, impacting agriculture and drinking water supplies. Protecting glaciers requires reducing deforestation, regulating harmful chemicals, and adopting sustainable practices. This anthology reminds us of the urgent need to act to preserve these vital ice masses for future generations.
This anthology gains significant importance due to its subject matter and the fact that it brings together poets and writers from different countries around the world, each writing in their native language about this crucial environmental topic.
Firstly, regarding the subject matter, the anthology focuses on the vital environmental issue of preserving glaciers. Glaciers play a crucial role in regulating the Earth’s temperature and providing fresh water resources. They act as natural temperature regulators by reflecting sunlight and reducing global warming. Highlighting this issue through poetry and literature raises awareness about the importance of these ice masses and calls for action to protect them from the impacts of climate change and harmful human activities.
Secondly, the importance of the anthology comes from its cultural and geographical diversity. It gathers poets and writers from various parts of the world, each writing in their native language and expressing their views and experiences related to the environment and glaciers. This cultural diversity enhances the richness of the anthology and gives it a global character. It also reflects unity in facing common environmental challenges, emphasizing that this issue is not confined to a specific geographical area but is a global problem that requires the cooperation of all cultures and nations.

This significant creative work, diverse in its languages (with each author writing in their mother tongue), demonstrates the vitality of this encyclopedic endeavor. It is a form of art that transcends geographical, political, and linguistic boundaries, aiming to build bridges between different peoples and cultures. By compiling writings and literary contributions from around the world, we strive to offer a unique window into shared human experiences and foster dialogue and mutual understanding, thus contributing to the creation of a more open, cooperative, and peaceful global community.
